FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
INTRODUCING SWAM:MO
NEW SWAM INITIATIVE TO TAKE WA MANAGERS TO MUSIC MATTERS, SINGAPORE FOR FREE

Recognising the vital role music managers play in supporting and promoting WA music, WAM is excited to announce SWAM:MO, a new initiative where two WA-based music managers will receive the opportunity to attend Music Matters conference in Singapore from 20 – 23 May 2015, rubbing shoulders with some of the biggest music industry names on the globe. Best part, with thanks to support from The Department of Culture and the Arts, all travel expenses will be covered by WAM, including flights, Music Matters Content Passes, accommodation, per diems and more! The Singapore-West Australian Music Exchange: Managers Opportunity aka SWAM:MO is an extension of the SWAM initiative, which since 2013 has provided showcasing and networking opportunities for numerous WA and Singaporean acts, focusing on creating inroads into the increasingly important Asian music market. SWAM:MO aims to build on the successes of previous SWAM exchanges by providing WA managers free access to high profile networking and professional development opportunities at Music Matters, which is Asia’s highest profile music export event, and one of the world’s biggest.Manager and Walking Horse Music head Matt Johnson attended the conference last year and recommended the experience. “Music Matters 2014 was a lot of fun and provided a great opportunity for The Love Junkies to start developing international markets, resulting in some tangible outcomes for the band,” commented Matt. “It was well-facilitated and provided lots of casual and formal networking opportunities for myself and the band – a positive first step for managers of WA acts looking for opportunities outside Australia.”With the opportunity valued at over $3,000 each, WAM is looking for one emerging-mid PLUS one mid–high level manager, so if you are based in WA and manage WA artists then we’d love to hear from you. Please note that you willneed to be a WAM Member before applying to be considered for this incredible opportunity.
