FRESH MiNT #4 – Tracks We’ve Been Waiting For

We’ve got a diverse range of Northern Territory music for you this month, but one thing they all have in common is that they’re all songs from EPs and albums we’ve been eager to get our hands on for a long time! From exciting new artists to well-established Territory favourites, this edition of FRESH MiNT has got it. Elli Belle – “Letting Go”
The highly anticipated debut EP from Darwin folk/pop artist Elli Belle is a blissful, sweet escape into a beautifully-pure perspective on life and love. Recorded at Tender Trap Studio with Anna Laverty, this track ‘Letting Go’ is one of our favs. Elli heads on a mini tour this week, so look out for her in Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney.

B2M – “Parlingarri”
After a decade of touring and earning popularity across Australia, Tiwi Island R’n’B group B2M (Bathurst to Melville) have released their debut album, Home. Recorded and released by Skinnyfish Music, it’s an awesome album of powerful and stick-in-your-head-this-song-is-so-catchy tracks including ‘Parlingarri’.

Skank & Shake – “Road Trip” Feat: Elsie Lange
Before it’s official release, Skank (SkankMC) & Shake are giving you a sneak peak of their new single ‘Road Trip’ Feat: Elsie Lang. It’s from the upcoming album The Long Road Ahead. Shake’s reggae/dub influenced beats combined with Skank’s unique story telling and Elsie’s sweet vocals on the hook… this is definitely a Road Trip we want to be on.

Desert Mulga – “Wati”
Yes! Super fun, super catchy, energetic desert reggae from Central Desert band, Desert Mulga. ‘Wati’ is the first single from their debut album Tangapa Yanu. Which is the first album to be released on CAAMA Music’s new subsidiary label Therrka, for grass-roots community bush bands. The album & label will be launched on March 12.

Leash and The Dusty Boots – “Cigarettes Make Me Mean”
‘Cigarettes Make Me Mean’ by Leash and The Dusty Boots is a brooding and nostalgic country track and a deserving finalist in the 2014 NT Song of the Year Awards. Since then the band have been recording and writing like mad at WindupStudio (aka a shed in Tennant Creek) for the release of their album Death and Cigarettes due in July.
