In 2014 the Live Music Office is partnering with the City of Sydney and the University of Tasmania on developing a localised research framework for the live music sector.
The research brief is to develop a replicable, low cost methodology and source data on the cost benefit impact of venues alongside
- Qualitative data on regulatory impacts,
- Audience development/ how audiences are forming
- How economic factors are shaping business models.
Approx ten venues each will be surveyed in
- Sydney
- Hobart
- Melbourne
- Adelaide
The associated patron survey will measure value attitudes and wellbeing.
The program is being led by Dave Carter at UTAS alongside Paul Muller, economics consultant, attached to University of Tasmania
The research initiative was action 4.2.1 from the City of Sydney Live Music and Performance Taskforce Action Plan.
4.2.1 Partner with the National Live Music Office in the development of an ongoing localised research framework aimed at measuring the social and cultural role of live music and performance in the City of Sydney.
