The Live Music Office is pleased to announce a second round of program funding for the Live and Local Strategic Initiative in Western Sydney, and for the first time expanding the program into Regional NSW.

Through Create NSW, the State Government has committed an additional $100,000 to funding a second round of the Live and Local initiative in Western Sydney, as well as $150,000 in delivering the program into Regional NSW. 100% of this funding will go to the local musicians, venues and technicians working on the events.

As the first round of events continue in Western Sydney, councils in both Western Sydney and Regional NSW will have another opportunity to apply for up to $20,000 to host live music micro-festivals in their local government areas over the 2017/2018 period.

Live Music Office Director John Wardle said “Live and Local micro-music festivals are a highly effective way to connect communities with their local artists and venues, as well as building relationships and capacity with the music industry in Regional NSW and Western Sydney councils.

“Having delivered a number of these events already, the Live Music Office is looking forward to more jobs and opportunities for local musicians across Regional NSW and Western Sydney as the micro-festivals are underway in the year ahead.”

Working with the Live Music Office, Western Sydney and Regional NSW councils can nominate local government staff, or work in partnership with an advisory committee consisting of council members, local industry and community members to facilitate a family friendly, local music event for local musicians using the “Live and Local” micro-festival event model.

Local Councils are invited to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to the Live Music Office outlining their proposal for a micro-festival featuring local artists and businesses, as well as any associated audience engagement and music industry development strategies to support musicians in their region.

The Expression of Interest application process is open until 5pm, 14 August 2017. Check out our website for more information on this exciting program: https://livemusicoffice.com.au/3GqIT
